I'M GONNA BE (500 MILES)--From the Proclaimers 1988 album, Sunshine on Leith, “I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)” is one one of the most infectious call-and-response songs of all time. It's also the song Stout Rebellion uses to see how much they can make eachother laugh.
GOOD MORNING DA--"Good Morning Da" is the opening track of the 2005 ablum, The Valley of the Shadow of Death, by American Celtic punk pioneers, the Tossers. Stout Rebellion knew they had to cover it the moment they heard they opening line: “Good morning, Da'. I'm in jail.”
PAINT IT BLACK--Always eager to stretch the limits of what constitutes Celtic music, Nicole Sivell's whistle and James Wilson's mandolin give the Rolling Stones' psychadelic classic, “Paint It Black” a surprisingly Celtic flavor.
FOGGY DEW--Written by Father Charles O'Neill in the second decade of the 20th century, “The Foggy Dew” is an Irish standard that chronicles the Easter Rising of 1916, an event that is commonly understood to have fueled the movement toward Irish independence. It has been covered by the Young Dubliners, Ronnie Drew (of the original Dubliners), Pete Seeger, Odetta, and, now, Stout Rebellion.
